Call for Papers (2026):                                      Ver.4 (260114)

Venue: Hokutopia (meaning "Northern Utopia" in Kita Ward, Tokyo), Access: Oji Station, Kita Ward, Tokyo

# Conference Overview
ICAITD 2026 welcomes submissions on the latest AI technologies.

Of particular note are studies on methods for conceptualizing and promoting AI research using AI agents, and automated paper writing using LLM agents and their evaluation. In October 2025, a research conference on AI agent paper writing, "Agents4Science," led by the Stanford University AI Advanced Research Group, was held. Furthermore, in the spring of 2025, two papers by AI researchers were accepted for the ICLR Workshop. Below is an invited talk explaining the status of the papers.

AI-driven scientific research refers to the autonomous performance of scientific research by AI systems, including hypothesis generation, experiments, data analysis, and paper writing.

These are emerging fields, and there are diverse approaches and methods for collaboration with AI. We look forward to researchers' ingenuity and new proposals.

In 2026, the following sessions will be cutting-edge themes:
(*) "Research on methods for conceptualizing and promoting AI research using AI agents" and
"Research on automated thesis writing using LLM agents and its evaluation"
This conference will be a unique international conference. Unlike traditional international conferences, ICAITD will provide authors with continuous feedback from the peer review stage through publication, aiming to refine research, promote constructive Q&A, and increase the value of knowledge. We aim to support researchers' activities and promote discussions that will provide meaningful insights into the direction of research.

Session 1: All research using AI agents and LLM agents is welcome.
We aim to achieve AI-driven autonomous scientific discovery, where agents generate hypotheses, design experiments, and interpret results under human guidance.

In papers, we welcome research on individual components, as building an entire system requires a significant amount of effort using a step-by-step approach: conceive a research topic, design experiments, hyperparameter settings, ablation studies, random number experiments, and paper writing. In such cases, we ask that you accurately describe the novelty and originality of each component. Given the rapid increase in new methods and tools, we also welcome survey papers analyzing AI scientists. Survey papers should include the latest information and provide in-depth analysis and insights.

Session 2: AI and Ethics
Papers on Sociological and Advanced Concepts: Consider the societal impact of AI, regulatory and management challenges, political influences, and ethical considerations. While the importance and necessity of ethics are widely recognized, it is important to consider conflicting issues, such as the separation or integration of ethics and technological development, and concerns that regulatory compliance could lead to development delays or losses.

Session 3: AI and Business

Session 4: Humanities and Social Science

#Paper Submission Deadlines: Important Dates

First Deadline: June 1, 2026
Second Deadline: Mainly for Revisions and Resubmissions: August 1, 2026

#Paper Submission

Papers can be submitted in two formats: full papers and poster abstracts (or extended abstracts).

As a general rule, two submissions by the same author (first author) are permitted. The registration fee for the second submission will be discounted. Please list the largest contributor as the first author.

Submit your submission to the ICAITD section of OpenReview.

https://openreview.net/

Go to the ICAITD 2026, then Conference page at ICAITD/ICAITD 2026/.

(1) If you do not have an OPENREVIEW account, please create one (create a new profile).
Please note the following rules regarding the email address you use when creating your account and submitting your paper.

----------------
OpenReview moderation policy for new profiles:
(a) New profiles created without registering an institutional email address will need to go through a moderation process. This process may take up to two weeks.
(b) New profiles created using an institutional email address will be automatically activated.
-----------------
When you create a new account profile, you will be presented with a number of fields. You can initially configure only the minimum fields and add to your profile as needed after creating your account.

(2) Upload all grade-level papers (full papers, short papers, position papers, workshop papers, or poster abstracts) to a single OpenReview location.

(Note) OpenReview has various settings. ICAITD 2026 will be run according to OpenReview's settings, but details of these settings will be released at a later date. Peer reviews will generally be open to the public, with a single-blind closed section and reviewer names coded or anonymized.

Please use this template as a reference:
A sample manuscript can be found at Sample_paper.

sample.ott ; sample.pdf

Please refer to the sample manuscript (Sample_paper) and prepare it in a similar format.

Please submit your paper in the same format regardless of its grade level (full paper, position paper, workshop paper). For poster presentations, please submit an abstract (approximately 1-2 pages).

* Note: To ensure transparency and fairness, the ICAITD Conference encourages clear disclosure of each author's role in the academic contribution.

Example:
Author Contributions:
The authors contributed to this study in the following ways: (Mr.)A. Designed the research concept and provided research guidance; (Ms) B. Developed the methodology and performed the experiments; (Mr.)C. Analyzed the data and wrote the paper. All authors read and approved the final version.

* Submission Process: Deadline; Peer Review; Notification of Results; Registration; Payment; Publication; Proceedings Author Publishing Agreement; Publication

* Peer Review Request:

We ask that authors take time out of their busy schedules to review approximately two papers each. We will also conduct AI-based peer review and make a comprehensive judgment in conjunction with the results of human peer review.
Reviewers should understand that submitted versions of their peer-reviewed papers will not be made public in perpetuity and must not be made public.

#Copyright Transfer:

After presentation at ICAITD 2026 and before publication of the final proceedings, authors will be asked to grant exclusive publishing rights to the publisher. Therefore, authors will always retain substantive copyright. The transfer will be done digitally and will require the participation of co-authors, if necessary.

Papers submitted to ICAITD 2026 via OpenReview will be published as open access under the CC-BY-ND 4.0 license. ND (No Derivative Works) means that others cannot modify the paper, but authors, as copyright holders, have the right to modify and publish it. Authors will also be subject to the CC-BY 4.0 license. Others may reproduce and cite portions of your paper in their own papers, as long as you clearly indicate this in the references (author names, title, etc.).

ICAITD 2026 operates its proceedings as open access, providing exclusive access for the fastest publication. Please adhere to this policy. One reason for this is the possibility that your paper may be rejected, preventing anyone other than the author from publishing. Even if your paper is accepted, publication will occur approximately one month after the conference, and only the final version will be made public. The first version submitted will be made available as a preprint to demonstrate the development process. Please refrain from publishing the submitted version, as it cannot be published as an independent paper. Furthermore, if your paper is rejected, only the author may publish it as a preprint or other medium, or resubmit it.

Single-blind peer review will be conducted.

Length limit: 30 pages including appendix.

We place the utmost importance on objective evaluation of novelty and originality. Therefore, please describe your paper's novelty and originality in detail from multiple perspectives, including the abstract, main text, results, and conclusions. Please do not hesitate to include duplicate descriptions.

Because we use an absolute evaluation system, the number of accepted papers may fluctuate or increase. If the number increases, we will address the situation by adjusting the venue, etc. Furthermore, due to venue and schedule constraints, we will gradually implement a waiting list for submissions once the number of presentations approaches 50. If a significant increase is expected, we may close submissions. Thank you for your understanding. Please plan your submissions carefully.

Use of generative AI: In principle, this is permitted in all sessions and categories. Generative AI paper sessions are also fully permitted.

Policy for the Use of AI Tools in Paper Creation
This conference does not prohibit the use of AI language models (e.g., ChatGPT), AI agents, AI scientists, etc. in paper creation.

However, authors must adhere to the following:
• The novelty, originality, and research contributions of this paper must be clearly stated and fully attributed to the author.
• All AI-generated content must be reviewed, verified, and edited by the authors, who are solely responsible for its accuracy and appropriateness.
• If AI tools are used, their use must be transparently disclosed (e.g., in the acknowledgments and methodology sections).
• The generation or modification of research data/experimental results, or falsified citations, is strictly prohibited, regardless of whether AI is used. If false data, manipulation of research data/experimental results, or plagiarism is discovered, the paper will be subject to severe penalties. Therefore, please be sure to avoid any falsehoods, errors, or typographical errors. In particular, when using generative AI, authors must carefully check for hallucinations, rewritten figures and tables, or substitution of experiments. Please disclose as much data and methods as possible to enable readers to reproduce your experiments. In particular, for simulation experiments, please disclose as much information as possible about the program code and operating environment so that readers can fully reproduce the experiment.

The peer review process emphasizes the originality and novelty of the research, regardless of whether AI tools were used for text generation, editing, or the research itself. Research using generative AI may require detailed experiments, so please provide as much information as possible about the data, program code, environment, etc. so that reviewers can conduct the same experiments. Peer review takes time, so if verification is difficult, your research may be put on hold and not accepted.

All authors and co-authors must be real people. AI, fictional characters, and other people are not permitted. However, using stage names, aliases, or nicknames instead of real names is permitted.

#Paper Acceptance Notification:

For early submissions (by the end of April 2026), the outcome (accepted, conditionally accepted, or rejected) will be notified within a maximum of three months of submission. For submissions requiring conditional revisions, the outcome will be notified within one month of resubmission. For submissions submitted between May 1 and June 1, 2026, the outcome will be notified within 50 days.
